A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW FOR EVERY ELECTION!
Matthew 5:13-16
INTRODUCTION: If you were to come to any biblical pastor and ask him about a personal problem you are having that pastor would take you to God’s Word and show you what it says about your problem and how to apply God’s Word to your problem: John 8:31-32. When it comes to our national, state and local elections where should we as Christians turn to first? Should it not be to the Word of God to see what our Lord has said is the way for us to handle the moral problems and financial problems of our nation? The same Book that can be used to restore a life, a family, or a church can also be used to restore a nation to the blessings of God. Matthew 5:13-16. Far too many Christians are afraid to use the Word of God in speaking to the issues of our day, but we dare not be among them: 2 Timothy 4:1-4. We are called to speak out and live out our biblical values. We can impact our culture for God’s glory if we chose too!
I. A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW OF GOVERNMENT!
Government is important in God’s Word: Romans 13:1-7. Our God created government to protect the people they govern. When sin entered our world if there was no government chaos would reign. 1 Peter 2:13-14; Romans 13:1-2; Romans 12:13; Proverbs 21:1; John 19:11. Our God created government and He is in control of those He allows to reign. Our God Who is sovereign still wants to use us to be involved with electing and watching over our government. An example here of God’s sovereignty and our involvement would be in our very salvation: Ephesians 1:3-6; Romans 10:14-17. We are the means that our sovereign God uses to bring others into His kingdom. 1 Corinthians 3:9; Our nation needs the influence of Christians who have a biblical world view!
II. WE NEED A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW OF LIVING!
Our Lord Jesus made it very clear that we are to be the light of the world and we are not to try to hide our light because our world need to have the light of God shine in our nation as we live out our biblical world view. There is no distinction in Scripture between our spiritual lives and our political lives: Matthew 5:13-16. God has called each of us to be Christians who believe the Word of God, speak the Word of God and vote according to biblical principles. Everyone has a world view. A world view is like a set of glass lenses that alter the way we see the world around us. Our world view gives us answers to “Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What is the truth about this life? How should I conduct my life? Does God exist and if so what is my response to His Word?” 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8.
III. WE NEED A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW OF THE ISSUES WE FACE!
We are to vote on issues which relate to our biblical worldview. We are to vote on candidates not because they are democrats or republicans but on our biblical worldview. Our biblical world view speaks to the subjects of allowing homosexuals to marry, restrictions on pornography, activist court judges. Why do we vote against those who are for abortion?
Psalm 139:13-16. God’s view of a baby in the womb is simply that it is a baby! The murder of an innocent, unborn baby is that it is murder! There is a big political push in our nation today to support homosexuality even to the point of homosexual marriage! But what does the Word of God say about homosexuality? Romans 1:26-32. The Bible prohibits homosexuality; it calls it a sin against nature so it is a sin to vote for those politicians that support it. Matthew 12:33-37. We need to vote for candidates based on their world view. Remember we are not first republicans or democrats, but we are to be first of all followers of Jesus Christ.
