GODLY MOTHERS BLESS EVERYONE!
Titus 2:1-15
I. GOD’S PLAN FOR WOMEN IN OUR WORLD!
Today we will look at the high place our Lord has assigned to women in this world. In our world today we find two extremes that our heavenly Father never meant for women and mothers to have to live in. First we find men who think that women were created to be sex toys, baby factories, or servants to the men in their lives. That was never God’s plan: Genesis 2:18-25. God created women to be a helper suitable for the man. There was something missing in man alone so God created a woman to be his completer: 1 Corinthians 11:9-12. Now God has laid out a plan for leadership in the home: Genesis 3:16; 1 Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 5:22-24. This does not make women inferior to men, it is just God’s assigned place for them in the family. Second, we find women who rebel against the authority of their God. There are many women and men in our very vocal society that reject and rebel against God setting the chain of command in any area of life. Our God has laid out His plan in His chain of command: 1 Corinthians 11:3. All sin has its roots in rebellion against authority. Even the church has a chain of command: Hebrews 13:17. Without a chain of command no institution can operate properly as God intended it to do. Even in human government, there is a chain of God given authority that we must submit to if we are to live in harmony: Romans 13:1-5. In all our homes our heavenly Father has laid out a chain of command: Ephesians 6:1-4. Remember: Submission to authority does not mean inferiority! We submit to God’s chain of command out of reverence for our God: Ephesians 5:21. Before any man ever rules over his own family, he was called by God to submit to his own mother!
II. GODLY MOTHERS BLESS EVERYONE!
When a woman takes on her godly role and chooses to submit to her own husband out of reverence for the Lord, she becomes a blessing to everyone! Titus 2:1-5. Women may not be in charge of their husbands but that does not mean they ae not responsible. They are responsible to love their husbands, to love their children. They are responsible to be discreet. That means to live a sensible life and to know what is most important. They are responsible to be chaste. That means to be pure, to be faithful to their wedding vows of keeping themselves only unto their own husbands. To be keepers at home. Their hearts are to be in the home, to always be building your home and sacrificing for your family: Proverbs 14:1; James 5:16. Today many wives who are mothers must work out of the home. Our God is able to bless those families and as they pray for their children and love them to the Lord our God will bless their families. Romans 14:1-7; Malachi 2:15-16. Mothers are to be a Godly example to their children. A wife is to submit to her own husband. Ephesians 5:22-24.
III. GODLY EXAMPLES OF GODLY WIVES AND MOTHERS!
Moses’ mother was a Godly example of a wife and mother who gives us a Godly example of following the Lord: Hebrews 11:23-27. By faith, Moses’ father and mother did not fear the Pharaoh as much as they feared the Lord. A Godly mother’s faith can thwart rulers, and overcome what seems impossible. A Godly mother can bless everyone in her home. Proverbs 31:10-31. Timothy’s mother and grandmother were an example of a Godly mother. The apostle Paul spoke of where Timothy got his faith : 2 Timothy 1:5. Susanna Wesley was a Godly example to her 19 children and her husband and they called her
blessed. Be sure to tell your mother what a blessing she has been to you today!
