HEARTS ON FIRE FOR GOD!
Luke 24:13-36

INTRODUCTION: We must constantly be restoring our passion for our Lord Jesus Christ! Passion for Christ and passion for live are absolutely necessary if we are going to be successful and have God’s joy in our hearts! Luke 24:32-36. Salvation is free but true discipleship costs everything we have: Luke 9:23-26.

I. HEARTS ON FIRE ILLUSTRATE THE PRESENCE OF JESUS!

The presence of a burning heart illustrates to the world the presence of Jesus in our lives! Luke 24:32: Do you think when Jesus broke the bread these two men saw the nail holes in His hands? When they recognized their risen Savior their hearts burned within them. Does your heart burn within you when you remember the sacrifice of Jesus? Think of what your Lord paid to redeem you! Fire in our hearts is proof that we have truly been with Jesus: Matthew 3:11. Jesus said He came to send fire on the earth: Luke 12:49.

II. HEARTS ON FIRE ARE MOTIVATED BY THE PURPOSES OF CHRIST JESUS!

A burning heart will motivate us to do the purposes of Jesus Christ in our lives regardless of the cost! Luke 24:33 tells us these two disciples couldn’t wait to tell others that they had seen the risen Christ! Luke 24:48: When there is the fire of God in our hearts it will motivate us to tell others that He is alive and that He is the Savior and will do great things in their hearts as well! Jeremiah 20:9; Acts 4:20. Today the church of Jesus Christ needs a burning heart! A burning heart will move us to carry out God’s purpose for our lives!

III. HEARTS ON FIRE FOR GOD GENERATE THE POWER OF JESUS!

A burning heart will generated the power of Jesus in all our lives! Luke 24:48-49; Acts 1:8. We can receive the power of God in our lives! We are to be willing to sacrifice ourselves continually for the glory of our God! Romans 12:1-2. We are the priests of God and we must continually tend the fire of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. 2 Timothy 1:6-7. Sadly today instead of fanning into flame the fire of God many are putting out the fire of God through sinful lives: 1 Thessalonians 5:19. If today you long to live a godly life you’re need the fire of God burning in your heart! People would come to our church if they knew the fire of God was burning in our hearts! When the church of God is not on fire the people of the community will not come!

IV. HEARTS ON FIRE RADIATE THE PRAISE OF JESUS CHRIST!

Our hearts on fire for our Lord will illustrate the presence of Jesus and motivate the purpose of Jesus and generate the power of Jesus and radiate the praise of Jesus: Luke 24:52. When people have hearts on fire it always ends in praise to Jesus Christ! When God’s people have hearts on fire then the fire of God will fall on those that will come to see what a real Christian looks like. Has the fire gone out in your heart? 2 Chronicles 7:1-3. In the Old Testament God had a temple for His people, but in the New Testament God has a people for His temple. Your body and mine is a temple of God! As we glorify the Lord with our bodies the fire of God will fall on our hearts! As we surrender ourselves to God He will send His fire into our hearts but we must totally surrender ourselves to Him: Romans 12:1-2.
