I Want To Know The Truth About Islam

I WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT ISLAM

Luke 9:18-26

INTRODUCTION: Luke 9:23: Jesus here is warning His original disciples and those of us who today who have received Him as our Lord and Savior that there will be others coming after Him that will say that what the Bible tells us about Jesus is not right. We need to know the Word of God well enough that when we hear false doctrine we can identify it as such and help others also to know false doctrine. Galatians 1:6-9.

I. A BACKGROUND OF MUHAMMAD AND THE ORIGIN OF ISLAM

The man known as Mohammad was born in 570 AD. Mohammad was known as a youth as “Al Amin” a name that literally means “the faithful one.” In 610, at the age of 40 after a two- year retreat of prayer and devotion it is said that he received his prophetic calling from God. According to Islamic tradition one night the angel Gabriel took Mohammad from Mecca to Jerusalem. It was there that he was brought through what the Quran describes as the “Seven Heavens.” It was in the Seven Heavens that Mohammad says that he visited with all the previous prophets sent by God. It was at this time Mohammad proclaimed himself as the “last prophet” after Jesus. And that he was brought to the world to bring all mankind to Islam. Mohammad claimed to be the Prophet talked about in Deuteronomy 18:15. In Islam, a prophet was known to be one who has performed signs and wonders, spoken to God face to face, spoken to men of God, and that lives a life of non-major sin.

II. JESUS PLACE IN THE QURAN
In the Quran Jesus (Isa) is recognized as a great healer, a great teacher, the Messiah, and a great prophet of God. In the Quran Jesus is not acknowledged as God: 1 Timothy 2:5;
John 1:1-3; John 14:6. Our question though is “Did Mohammad meet the criteria to fulfill Deuteronomy 18:15. Mohammad was not part of the nation of Israel. Mohammad was not capable of being a prophet because he did not lead a major sinless life. Muhammad had a problem with polygamy. In the Quran a man was allowed four wives. Mohammad had as many as 15 wives. Mohammad also owned and sold slaves. The only miracle, sign or wonder that Mohammad ever claimed was the Quran itself. If you want to know the truth, the Word of God told us that the one who would fulfill Deuteronomy 18:15 had to be a descendent of David: Jeremiah 23:5-6. Isaiah told us He would be preceded by: Isaiah 40:3; Zechariah 9:9. Psalm 22:16 tells us this One to come would have His hands and feet pierced and they would cast lots for His clothing: Psalm 22:16; Psalm 41:9. Isaiah said He would be a light to the Gentiles and heal the deaf and the lame: Isaiah 9:1-2; Isaiah 35:5-6; Isaiah 42:1-4; Isaiah 49:6-7; Isaiah 53:7, 12; Isaiah 50:6; Isaiah 53:9, 12. In all over 60 Old Testament prophecies came to pass during the life of one single man. No not Muhammad, but our Lord Jesus Christ.

III. THE TRUTH: MUHAMMAD OR JESUS?
Muhammad died at the age of 62 and is still in his grave today. Jesus said He would die and three days later raise to life. Jesus was raised up so we could know that He is God and so He could fulfill all the prophecies speaking about Him in the Old Testament. Jesus resurrection was seen by hundreds of people: 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Here is the proof that Jesus Christ is God come in the flesh: Luke 9:28-35. Muhammad tells us in the Quran that Jesus is just a man but just a man could not fulfill the 60 prophecies of the Old Testament. Matthew 16:24. One day Muhammad will bow his knees to the Lord Jesus Christ and confess Jesus as God: Philippians 2:3-11; Luke 9:3.
