WHY IS JESUS THE ONLY WAY?
John 14:1-6
INTRODUCTION: How can Jesus be the only way to God? Why do we believe that Jesus is the only way to eternal life? You do know that not everyone believes what we say we believe don’t you? We as followers of Jesus Christ have been called to love those who don’t think like us and to share with them the hope that we have in Christ and the reasons why we believe what we do: 1 Peter 3:15-16. We are called both to believe in Jesus Christ and to be able to give the reasons why we do believe.
I. GOD PROCLAIMED ONE WAY TO HEAVEN!
Our God in His Word did not give us a roadmap with several different routes or options to choose from to get to heaven: John 3:16-21. Other religions have many different paths to eternal life but Christianity says there is only one way to eternal life: John 10:7-10. The door of salvation the Bible tells us is very narrow: Matthew 7:13-14.
II. JESUS HIMSELF CLAIMED TO BE THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN!
John 14:6-7. Jesus said He is the first and the last—the self-existing One:
Revelation 1:17-18. Jesus said He is the One that can forgive your sins: Mark 2:1-12. When Jesus made these claims He is either 100% right or He is 100% wrong. Jesus claimed to be One with the Father: John 10:25-30. Jesus here is claiming to be God!
III. PROOFS THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN!
The Old Testament predicted it: Isaiah 52:13-53:12 is talking about our Lord Jesus Christ. Fulfilled prophecy is one of the proofs that Jesus Christ is the long-awaited Messiah: Isaiah 7:14 with Luke 1:31-35. Zechariah 12:10 with John 19:31-37. Zechariah 9:9 with Matthew 21:1-7. Psalm 41:9 with Matthew 10:2-4. Zechariah 11:12-13 with Matthew 26:14-16 and
Matthew 27:3-9. Micah 5:2 with Matthew 2:1-6. Isaiah 35:5-6 with Luke 7:1-10. Psalm 16:8-11 with Acts 13:35-37. Jesus is the only one in all history to fulfill the hundreds of prophecies in the Bible speaking of the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled over 400 prophecies that spoke of the Messiah. The New Testament proclaimed Jesus Christ is God! John 1:1-5; Colossians 1:15-20; Mark 14:61-62. Even the demons pronounced that Jesus is God: Mark 5:1-10; Mark 1:21-28. The miracles that Jesus did personified the fact that He is God: John 10:22-26. Jesus not only claimed to be God but He did miracles that only God could do to prove who He was. Jesus resurrection proved that He was God: Every other religious leaders grave still has their bones left in them, but not our Lord Jesus Christ! John 2:13-22; John 20:1-10. It happened just as He said it would. But the question is “Do you believe that or not? Jesus did not say “I am a way. Jesus said very clearly “I am the way, the truth and the life no one comes unto the Father but through me.” Romans 10:13: the word: “Everyone” here means just what it says: “Everyone! Who believes will be saved!” That means “you”. Yes, today you can believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved
